Estrella are from the highlands of Scotland and are making big waves North and South of the border indeed worldwide, with rave reviews in the major music magazines.  They have  recently won the 2012 Scottish New Music Award “Loud/Metal Recording of the Year“ for 'Come Out and Play',  produced in collaboration with John T Sinclair ( ex band member of Ozzy Osbourne, Uriah Heep and the Cult) who features on some of the tracks as well.

The four piece is made up of Paul Gunn (vocals), Luke Gunn (guitar), Nathan Gunn and drummer Leo McPherson.  'Come Out To Play' is 80`s metal influenced, AOR, anthem filled, partying metal to enjoy.  Opening  with 'Chance of a Lifetime' you are immediately taken in by the production and excellent talents of the band, this song reminds me of so many bands, but they pull it off, this is 80s metal with a new modern groove and 'Chance of a Lifetime' could really relate to this band, as they seriously have that  themselves.

The title track 'Come out to play' is my favorite track on here and indeed seeing them play the song live believe me it’s a rocking, anthem. The next song 'Party' totally brilliant live and you will have a 'Party' with this foot stomping song!  Think Steven Tyler with a Scots warriors attitude!  'Mona Lisa Smiled' slows the mood down a tad, giving you a chance to catch your breath, a really nice melodic number.  The motor is revved again as 'Shout (I wanna hear you)' continues the sing along good time rock, as you really will have to shout!  This band just continues to amaze you with their clever lyrics, immense guitars and metal pounding hard nailed rock!

'One Love' is a great song and by rights should be high in the national charts as this is proper music by a hard rocking band and has everything that would and should appeal to any music lover.  'Rocker Lilly' is sleazy, anthem filled, fists punching the air sing along number with guitar riffs that Slash would be proud of!  'She’s Got It' glides and simply put, would not have been out of place on Aerosmith’s 'Permanent Vacation'.  'The Last Mohican' is a cool track, with a nifty opening.  'Whatever It Is' and the next two tracks continue the 80`s hard rock theme. The album finishes with 'Don’t Forget Me' starts of as an acoustic number and is a great well worked track to finish a very competent 14 song filled piece of work from these Highlanders.

'Come Out To Play' showcases the bands abilities as an accomplished four piece, totally talented!

Having seen Estrella play live recently supporting The Burning Crows in Glasgow, I can attest to their brilliance, energy and dedication.  Estrella in the New Year will be playing at the growing and very successful Les-Fest 2013, as well as continuing to play dates around the UK they will go across the channel for a European Tour and much much more, keep an eye out for these Scottish rockers!
