                                                                                                              Aeon

                                                                                                Date: 11 February 2013

MG: Hi, great to meet you, could you give us a brief history of the band?
Zeb: We started in 1999, made a demo that got us a record deal on Necropolis records. They liked the demo so much that they released it as "Dark Order". Our first release was an EP.  Then we moved on to Unique Leader rec and released our first full length album "Bleeding the False" and then we got signed to Metal Blade and so far they have put out 3 albums which is "Rise to Dominate", "Path of Fire" and our latest album "Aeons Black". We've also done some touring too both headlining tours and as supporting act to bands like Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Misery Index and Mayhem.

MG: You have recently released your fourth album “Aeons Black” how much of a progression is it from your previous albums?
Zeb: I think you can hear that we made a big step from our previous albums to this one. Speaking for my self I tried to look at it from a little different angle. I've always used to think that I should make the perfect song every time I write a song. This time I tried to make the perfect album instead. And it allowed me to do more varied songs. And I wasn't worrying whether stuff would fit or not. If it sounded cool I would just use it.

MG: You are regarded as one of the world’s most noted blasphemous underground death metal bands, where do you get your ideas and is it difficult to maintain the themes at times in your song writing?
Zeb: By the time we start our writing process we usually do it pretty fast and it always surprises me how easy it is every time to get into the writing mode really. But the next time I fear that we will have a hard time trying to top "Aeons Black" haha.

MG: Which songs from “Aeons Black” are your personal favourites?
Zeb: It really is hard to say. But I think that "I Wish You Death" is the funniest one to play. Maybe that one, "Nothing Left to Destroy" and "Still They Pray".

MG: Where does the hatred of Christianity come from? Do you believe the world would be a better place without any religions?
Zeb: This would be more suited for Tommy to answer cause he is the one that have had big problems with the Jehovah's Witnesses in his youth. But I really don't like any religions cause it just prevent people from achieving their goals in life as they have to follow stupid laws that where written thousands of years ago. It's just rubbish. And they take advantage of week people and fool them.  90% of the wars in this world is in some gods name. It's sickening. It's hypocrisy.

MG: Are the band practising Satanists?
Zeb: I can only speak for myself. I'm not.

MG: Scandinavia seems to have some amazing bands coming out all the time are there any new Death Metal bands you think we should be checking out specifically from Sweden?
Zeb: Yeah you really need to check out our friends SYN:DROM and their upcoming album "Iconoclasm". It's killer music and has a great production too.

MG: Bands that influenced you growing up and in the present day?
Zeb: For writing death metal songs it was always and still are bands like Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide and Suffocation that stands for our main influence. But also bands like Meshuggah, nevermore and stuff like that too. The last two albums from Machine Head have had a big impact on me as I wrote Aeons Black.  When it comes to playing solos it's Yngwie Malmsteen and Marty Friedman that have had the biggest influence on me.

MG: Plans for this year, festivals etc.?
Zeb: Our plans right now is for this year and not next year cause its only February now haha.  But we have a gig at House of Metal here in Sweden. Then we have a EU tour with Obscura. Then a Japan tour with Origin. Finally this summer we have something huge and really cool coming up, but I cannot say more than that yet.

MG: What would be the ultimate goal for Aeon?
Zeb: To be able to do Aeon for a living. To tour the world and always travel in a nightliner with our own FoH tech and still make money. That would be so awesome to do.

MG: You have toured with some big bands what would you say is the bands biggest achievement so far?
Zeb: I would say that touring with Cannibal Corpse and to get signed to Metal Blade would be the biggest to date.

MG: Who would be the ultimate bands to share a stage with?
Zeb: Of course it would be a huge band like Metallica. That way we would reach out to like 30000 people every night and if only 10% of them would like our shit I would still be 3000 new fans every night.

MG: Any final words for our readers / listeners?
Zeb: Thank you for putting up with my boring answers if you are still reading this haha.  Check us out when we come to town. And listen to our latest album, and if you like it go buy it.  Cheers.
